Biofilm’s project was essentially oriented to satisfy electric supply security, preserving high global efficiency as much as possible.

That is why it was decided to install a new cogeneration plant based on a 4.8 MW gas turbine simple cycle that was able to produce 9.8 t/h of saturated steam at 13 bar (a) with the afterburner off and 7 t/h additional with the afterburner operating. The plant also allows the production of 1.580 kW of cold water at 7ºC.

Cold production, with an existing absorption system, for cold supply in Biofilm was used for cooling the gas turbine intake air, ensuring more stability in energy production; critical point for Biofilm.
