Heat Map of Mexico
The Heat Map of Mexico, drawn up as part of the bilateral cooperation activities between Mexico and Germany and framed in the Sustainable Energy Program of the GIZ, is a tool whose main objective is to facilitate the analysis of the thermal supply potential of industries and large tertiary consumers through efficient solutions based on cogeneration, waste heat and renewable energies (biomass, biogas, solar thermal and geothermal).
It has been estimated a thermal demand in industries and large tertiary consumers of 294 TWh/yr of heat, of which 134 TWh/yr could be replaced by different renewable or high efficiency technologies allowing a reduction of 92 TWh(pci)/a of fossil fuels and that could bring a total saving of 3700 million USD per year to the Mexican economy.
Data on heat demand, thermal supply and potential results can be consulted through a web application, developed in collaboration with SIGE (information and management systems company), where the calculated data are superimposed on an interactive map of Mexico.
