Steam generation from biomass in la SEDA LIOFILIZADOS
SEDA LIOFILIZADOS S.A.
SEDA (Sociedad Española de Alimentos) production process generates coffee grounds as a solid waste, which was removed in a controlled landfill, meaning an important cost for the company. This fact combined with the increasing of steam demand (due to the installation of a new lyophilisation plant) made SEDA decide to install a biomass plant composed by a torsional chamber, a steam generator and a drying system that allowed the production of saturated steam.
The steam generation plant is able to produce 6 t/h of saturated steam at 17 bar(a) using 6000 kg/h of wet coffee grounds (75% moisture content).
